Grade 9 day at Waterford District High School has been a tradition for many years. The grade 9 students team up with the senior students, and they have an activity day. Although the day used to consist of hazing instead of fun. The school has put an end to the hazing of grade 9 day, and made it a strictly fun day for the grade 9 and grade 12 students to bond and get to know one another. Every year there is a Barbecue lunch for the students, and WDHS's student council runs the day.
From 2010 now to almost 2012, the school has been undergoing a renovation. The school got brand new science labs, a larger Edukids Daycare, Brand new floor in the gym, and new offices for the school board. The school now has it's very first elevator! WDHS is planning on more renovations in the future, with a whole gut and redo of the girls and boys change rooms. Also fundraising has been done for a new electronic score board for the football field!
